“The role of the teacher is to create the conditions for invention rather than provide ready-made knowledge”
“Laboratorio digitale” is an early experimentation on using digital tools as an atelier material for children, a material to play and explore with, ideally just alike pencils colors or clay.
In an effort to have the digital tools be accessible the most that we could, the interaction was hyper basic and reduced to 1 mechanic: the closing of a “switch” that causes a particular sound. But then, thanks to makey-maky and some Processing, we exploded the “switch” into haptic elements, materials to be broken and explored. In this first version of the lab these elements are made of aluminium paper, charged brought by handy weights connected to the makey-makey.
The paths explorable starting with these basic rules are many and we’ll document the children as they research and invent in this basic interaction space.
